Then the beard after several episodes of being mistaken for a student when I was a lecturer. Little chance of that 35 years later but it grows on you!

No obvious connection between kilts and beards except they are both worn by men who don't conform to the dominant norms of society - people who chose to take a road less travelled. The are both, so to speak, eccentric ... not that I'm eccentric .... toodle pip!
