Personally, I do not own a tartan tie to go with any of my kilts, and do wear solid colors, with the occasional stripe, most of the time. But what's the big deal if someone wants to do it?? On some guys, it looks extremely good. On the other hand, my eye gets all bent out of shape looking at a tartan vest that matches the kilt...way too much for my eye to comprehend. So, I guess it boils down to: it's in the eye of the beholder!
