Re: Off-season training
It's deload week, but still...
4 mile hike yesterday, quite leisurely.
Today I loaded and moved about 500 pounds of cinder blocks. They came out from under the persimmon tree, and up tot he driveway. Then half went in my truck. Then half came out of my truck. Then half went into my truck again. The other half got loaded in a subaru.
Not what I'd planned to do, but it all counts, right?

It all counts! Nice work Alan! My arm is a little tweaked right now, but so no throwing at the moment, but here's my workout from yesterday:
11/26/2011
Hills
1/2 Mile warmup jog
6x Hill Sprints (40m, 30 degree hill)
1/4 mile cool down walk

Re: Off-season training
More non-lifting while I wait on my arm to un-tweak itself:
11/30/11
Light jog & some box jumps to warm up
PLYOS (Bounding)
5x LRLR
5x LLRL
5x RRLR
5x Both feet
Felt good today - wanted to follow this up with some throwing, but I think I need to continue to rest my arm a few more days...

Re: Off-season training
Yours truly is dealing with some significant dizziness and blood pressure issues. This is NOT happy-making, my blood pressure has gone sky-high ever since I donated blood... like 155/80 when I'm standing. When I lie down it drops to 138-142 / 77-80, which is better, but still. In the mornings, right after I get up it's about 132/77. Dizziness comes and goes, mostly associated with climbing stairs, but yesterday I had a session where I was just sitting at the computer writing an e-mail and it hit.
So I am going to be taking it easy for a while. This happened last year at the end of the off-season when I was lifting hard. I think I exacerbated it with the 2 units of blood going away.
Making an appt to see the doc, today.

IANAD - but after giving blood I will take a half-tab of my wife's iron tablets for a week afterwards to help cope with the shivers and dizziness. I avoid iron otherwise as it's not uncommon for me to eat a pound of beef or more in a day, but the iron really does help.
* she takes iron for anemia
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude
