That is a sharp looking uniform. I admit I'd never seen one. Of course you'd get laughed out of anywhere in Kentucky (except maybe a Colonel-themed Derby party) if you wore it. But clearly that Mr. Lauten has more money than he knows what to do with anyway.
Back on topic: while the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels is a charity and in theory you should continue to pay dues to be "in good standing", the Kentucky Colonel commission is conferred by the governor and countersigned by the secretary of state. For that reason alone it seems that the official state tartan of the Commonwealth of Kentucky is the wholly appropriate kilt to wear to show one's affiliation as a colonel.
You're just going to have to trust me on this one.
