Stillwater leather kilt jacket and cargo sporran
My lovely Star is indulgent of my interest in highland attire but on the whole doesn't tend to encourage me to buy more kilt and kit. One recent exception was seeing Mike's (Farlander) leather kilt jacket from Jerry over at Stillwater kilts (though I suspect she thought I should buy it only because she wants borrow it).
I checked with Jerry about sizing and he asked if I would be interested in a one-off he had in his shop in brown. I jumped on this and couldn't help noticing he had some brown leather cargo sporrans on clearance. I picked up one thinking it would go well with the jacket.
They arrived today (ordered only a few days ago, but then that's old hat for Stillwater)

I am in love with the jacket. It is buttery soft, has usable pockets, and though it is a fully lined leather jacket it is light enough that I can see using it beyond the cold weather months. This is going to get a lot of use!
Though I don't think he is going to have more brown jackets, I bet that the black jackets with a black cargo sporran would give a similar modern kilt look...speaking of modern kilt looks ...I have another thread to start!
Anyway thanks Jerry

Okay, not the cargo sporran in this case, but this is from late April or early May last year:

And I think we need to collectively natter at Jerry until he also stocks brown as a regular item -- you look smashing!!

Great look Dale! I like that these leather jackets are a modern accessory that avoids the "punk look"
Nothing wrong with having a punk look

But sometimes you want something a little more sophisticated, yet not traditional either.

oops!
Almost forgot. The brown leather cargo sporran is the same style as the nylon one I have from Stillwater and use for hiking. The compartments and zipper make it very easy to organize and get to your stuff. I'm not sure what the flaw was that caused them to be on clearance but at $26 they are a steal!
Cheers

I had a black nylon one for a long time, then also grabbed a brown leather one last year. I think they're a steal at the full regular price.

Looks super! Thank you for making this post. I had thought these were no longer available. May I say the Brown looks excellent with your tartan as well. Cheers.

I wonder, does anyone make a nylon sporran minus the zippers and whatnot? Now that is something i would definitely be interested in!
