Thanks for the recommendation. I do have a correction, however - House of Cheviot hose are a very comfortable wearing 50/50 blend of Merino wool and synthetic (mostly acrylic, with a bit of lycra).

Now that shows how attentive I am to reading those label thingies

But it also explains why they don't irritate me like other wool hose do. I have a similar problem to the OP with irritation from wool

sarge if you're standing in your sock-feet, how far from the floor is the place where you'd like the top of your hose? Perhaps some of our long-shanked brethren can offer some specific suggestions.

I would say about 19 inches is where I want the top, so add a few to that for the turn down

HofC hose in sizes Large (and larger) are 18" from heel to top of cuff after they are turned down.

My plain and patterned-topped hose in size Large are 22" and 24" long, respectively, before they are turned down. I hope that helps.

There is a listing en eBay right now for a lady in the US who will knit custom hose to any size in any color for around $115 shipped:

Not exactly the cheapest option but a decent one to consider for a perfect fit in a color you are pretty much sure to like. And I bet she will even work with you on the fiber content to meet your Florida needs.

call me weird but check out American Apperails web site they have several types
of OTK socks and really tall and long socks many will work for tal guys l
