Living in Norway I can say that the 17th is a National holiday, which celebrates the Constitution set down in 1814.
Every class, from every school, all the teachers and parents go in prossion through the streets of the town in which they live. Wave flags and generally have a great time. All accompanied by brass band music.
The adult's especially the women have their regional national costume(Bunad) on also some men have their's on too. This "bunad" is used only for Weddings, confirmations, and christnings. It's cost is about 20,000Kr and upwards (there is lot's of Silver. I can post some link's so you can all see if your interested.
By the way Skål.........David 8)
