I'm with Matt on this - I'm really surprised to hear that they would be too short. If anything, they usually are too long.
Particularly confusing is the comment about the garter knot showing (which I assume means that the turndown doesn't completely cover it). Considering that the House of Cheviot hose tend to have overly-long turndowns, this is quite baffling.
Perhaps a picture would help here, Mr. Anthony?
