Here's a link to a rather interesting (evening) sporran for sale by a chap in New Hampshire.

Naaa. Not for me sorry. Looks like it's made from loft insulation.

Ha-ha! I agree, John. I have seen this 6-tassle design before, typically made from sealskin, yet this version has definitely seen better days. I just thought the 'rabble' may like to see it.
Cheers,

That one has been on and off auction with the same picture (presumably the same seller) for several months now. At least it is at a more reasonable price than I remember it ever being before. I agree with John that the color is a bit, ummmmm, UNUSUAL, yeah that's the word for it.
Thanks for thinking of the rabble Kyle

I've seen very well-made Scottish-made Evening Dress sporrans made out of nasty artificial fur that exact colour ... I wonder if this is one of them. I've also seen real sealskin sporrans just about that colour.
Anyhow it's a cool-looking vintage sporran. I used to have one sort of like it, old when I bought it in the late 1970s, silver mounted of grey sealskin.

LOL. This comment ranks up there with Joshua's "soup sandwich" in the "Is it just me?" thread.

It looks very similar to a sporran that I own, made of sealskin. It belonged to my father, and is now being used "temporaraly" by my brother. It is a very nice sporran==at least mine is!

I inherited a pale grey seal similar in design to Sandy's but probably made in the early 1960s. I passed it on in the family and the last time I saw it it looked like somebody had been blowing smoke through it for years. I suspect the environment in which it has been kept (a true, old-fashioned billiards room) changed the colour over the years. Pretty nasty, anyway, and it has now been put away in the kist for another generation to find. And wonder about.
