    Thanks for the photos Herminator,. Hope Llew didn't come down with the sniffles, must have been quite a shock for him to go from low to mid 30's C over here to your temps.

    rather staying at home Llew decided to accompany me to work.

    on friday we drove to Aschafenburg for the Burns Night. A friend organized a guided tour.

    Let us first take a look around Johannisburg castle, a Renaissance castle. From the old castle only the tower remained.
    It is one of the most impressive north of the Alpes. It got heavily damaged in WWII and got rebuild from 1957 to 1981.

    on we went:

    this brewery is one of the oldest in town and already existed during the 30 years war.
    It's called "Schlappeseppl". it got it's name from the brewer at the time of swedish times during the 30 years war.
    It was his nickname. Seppl meaning little Joseph and Schlappe from him walking with a limp.

    Aschaffenburg was and still is a cathedral chapter of the arch diocese of Mainz. We now come to the chuch of the Chapter.

    two of oldest house in town. The stone building is the oldest stone building of the town and is home of the sexton of the church.
