I wore kilts!

I was disappointed by
1) the size of The Pipes & Drums; back in the 70s they toured with 18 pipers and a larger drum section
2) the tuning of the pipes initially. As the first half progressed they fixed the tuning issues, and by the second act the pipes were behaving far better! I talked to piper Colin there (as I recall, in the photo) and he said that for that Wednesday show they didn't really have any time to tune beforehand, going from bus to hotel to bus to venue in a rush. We're having unusually dry weather and it plays havoc with the pipes.
I love these concerts! I love the sound of pipes & Military Band playing together, and the pageantry of the Full Dress and elaborate marching.
I asked piper Colin there about the if/when of putting all the battalions' Pipes & Drums into generic RRS kit. He said it's in the works but it's being opposed by the various battalions, as one would expect! The Pipes & Drums of the various battalions are holding onto the last vestiges of the old distinctive uniforms.
