The challenge with puns that lean a little into the sites political no-go zone is they are nearly impossible to respond to without escalating the political aspect of the discussion. So at best they stop the conversation and at worst they seed a discussion that eventually ends badly.
If you want to get a good/bad pun thread going it has to be on a topic such as bird names or cats. Or you can pun about kilts with fell-onious intend even if it is a true-waist of time.
And I agree with Tobus that a definition from the OP of affordable would be useful.
