I can vouch for that. I played a gig in Minneapolis during the summertime a while back. HOT is the word that I would use to describe the weather. Looking around the Twin Cities area's accommodations I could also see that they were prepared for the other extreme...FRIGID!
One of my good mates lives in Houston and heat coupled with humidity are the norm down by the Gulf.
In my corner of California it's a dry heat (thankfully). Winters get quite cold (nearly snow weather, snow about once per decade) but rarely does it actually snow (much to my chagrin). I used to live in South Lake Tahoe. I miss the snow. I love the winter. I hate summer weather.
