Well, with Balavil House and Cluny Castle being both on the market, I'd say my funds are rather tied up at the moment. Not to mention both estates are located in the heart of traditional, Clan Macpherson lands in Badenoch...so, there's NO CONTEST of which way I'll be heading!

Think about it for a minute, folks - the Law of Supply and Demand. The supply of available castles is going up. The price has to go down. There's still hope for us. Stay tuned ...

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Beware! - Are they haunted(?) - and it will break your back when you have to weed the 'tattie' patch! Nearest Asda (Wall Mart) is probably a days drive. (But - maybe you could live off the venison? salmon?)

When I spoke with my real-estate agent, he told me that the presence of ghost(s) raises the price of a castle. But, under current law you can charge them rent to help make up the difference. As for food and supplies, simply do what all good Scotsmen do - hunt the king's deer and slaughter the Heeland Coos.

Excellent! That only seems right. While you wrap those two, I'll take the Gledfield Estate in Sutherland, "The Gledfield Estate is a full-scale sporting estate. The 14,682-square-foot historic main house, recently restored, has eight bedrooms and five bathrooms. The property also has a staff apartment and eight estate cottages. The estate has opportunities for hunting and salmon fishing on 6,981 acres. Inverness International Airport is 45 miles away."

My Scottish roots are in this area, from around Inverness up to Wick, so the location is perfect! Now I just need to get £8m to buy it and a "few" extra £ to run it.
