I have no idea what it is called, but it's supposed to look like a mirror image of what the guy on the video is tying, but usually ends up looking more like a ruche knot. Then, I call my wife.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

The four in hand is a quick easy go to knot, although I personally like the Pratt knot when I have the time. I just can't get to tying it with any speed. I have seen a couple of knots in this thread that I will be trying.

Ooooh, I like that Onassis knot - both forms are pretty cool...

I rather like the four-in-hand. I like the way it is asymmetrical and slightly longer than other knots. I fancy it gives a bit of character and a touch of elegance to an outfit... in reality I don't expect that anyone pays a blind bit of notice but I can still go to work classically dressed and still "stuff it to the man" in my own small, sad, way!

    Question:

A few modern styles have the smaller end of the tie in front. Is this...proper in any sense (for lack of a better word)? I have only recently seen this and never in the wild. Any thoughts?

Any one trying the Eldrich knot with a neck of 16+ will need to have a longer tie. I've tried it on my longest standard and at 17 1/2 there isn't enough tie left. Also a skinny tie is recomended. Just my experience.

Yes mate I have thoughts. I have never seen it nor would I wish too. IMHO I think it would look very silly. But then again being the wrong side of 50 I could well be out of touch with modern trends. It wouldn't be the first time.

When I wear a necktie, I use the knot my father used. He called it an Oxford knot. It appears to be more commonly called Windsor (or Full Windsor or Double Windsor). That's my knot, and I'm sticking with it. I'm on the same side of 50 as Grizzly, and I also have thoughts about the smaller end of the tie in front, but I will keep them to myself for fear of breaking one or more forum rules.

Well I am on the "right" (if there is such a thing) side of 50 and I agree!
