    I'd hate to have to make this jacket, but I think you could wear it to great effect, maybe with a yellow shirt, or even red. Since the jacket itself is already "non-trad", trying to pair it with "trad" shirt color (white) just wouldn't cut the mustard, methinks.

    I can't 'see' it with a kilt - it just doesn't seem right - I can visualise it with trousers though.

    However - lining up the tartan would be a bit of a nightmare.

    Not for those who like to go unnoticed. The tartan just looks out of place on a P.C. Although, as noted, it could work with a solid kilt and vest, but you would still be the odd man out.

    Black on black "shadow tartan" trews perhaps Anne? It would be a reverse of the normal formal trews look but I think it might just work. Fashion forward and daring, but it just might work.
