So my question, for those who remember the 1970s is, was this ever a popular trend? I've never worn it, but have kept it all of these years because it didn't take up much space.
I'd love some info. I googled them, and some furriers sell them and they aren't cheap, but I haven't seen a direct association with Highland attire as yet. Thoughts?

I am honestly flabbergasted. My Gast is in full Flabber.
It looks like something Hagrid would wear with his "horrible hairy suit".
That, or something a Chippendales dancer might wear.
I look forward to hearing if anyone ever thought this was a good idea with a kilt.

I lived through that period. Yes, some thimblethwaites might have worn such stuff, but to say it was "in style" would have been a real stretch in my neck of the woods.

"thimblethwaites"? I'm guessing it's not complimentary but Google left me high and dry for a definition....

I can't even dream to draft a proper response... I apologize for my lack of wit. I can honestly say, that I have an event (an annual event at that!!) already in mind wherein THAT would be the most PERFECT bow tie imaginable!

We have a complete set of fine china with an orange and yellow psychedelic design, a wedding present from my brother. The 1970's call from time to time - they want it back. I remember polyester leisure suits, 8-track tapes, and disco fever. But, I never, ever saw a bowtie like that furry beauty you got there, Nathan! It may be unique (let's hope so, anyway).

Nathan... I'm speechless...this is STUNNING... I MUST have one for my Evening Rig. I'll give you £500 for it. Ok... more, if you insist. Someone stole mine in 1973 (it belonged to my GGGrandfather who had killed the seal himself on a Guga hunting trip off the coast of St. Kilda in 1858) and I thought I'd never see another one again. Humm... might it have been you? Ok...no questions asked... just sell it back to me. Forget flabbergasted...I'm all aflutter and aquivering... it's coming home. Please. Please. Please. I'll be your best friend.

That's too much to ask! Since it means so much to you, let me cut you a deal. How's about a straight trade for that shaggy sporran you wear so often? I can probably find some use for it...
