By all means, dump it on Rocky's doorstep! It's his fault anyway for giving us so many tartans to choose from.

My advice is pick the one you like the best (the one you are leaning to?), forget about all our advice (especially mine), and never look back. Whatever you decide to do, good luck, ... and don't forget the pics.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

That's probably what I'm going to do. Hey no one says you can only own one nice wool kilt in just one tartan.

I say go with your roots and the Douglas. Fashion and tastes change over time but your DNA won't. It is never the wrong thing to go with your family tartan.

I voted Black Watch weathered. Beautiful tartan. Though the sensible (Ron Macdonald/Riverkilt) answer would be: Buy one of each!

Well I just talked to USAk and the choice I was leaning toward "Douglas Green muted" is off the list, the tartan is not available. So down to just three choices. My wife likes all three but her vote was for Auld Lang Syne burns. She also said go with the Black Watch muted that way when someone said oh is that Black Watch they'd be right and could feel good about themselves. I may have to find another choice just to make things harder on myself, how about "Isle of Skye". I do also like the "Maple Leaf" and my grandfather was born in Canada. Ah so many choices

Can not go wrong with the BW... especially in the weathered muted tones. I find it beautiful and is always classy, timeless, and safe. I wish to have one myself someday.

Why is the tartan not available? Couldn't you and/or Rocky send Dalgliesh the threadcount (K4B4G32DB32WW4DB32G32B4 - they can get it themselves, of course) and ask them to weave it using the muted colors of your choice? A custom weave is costlier, but if you really like it ....

"Ah so many choices" Yes, yours is a good problem to have.
