I was going to make the same suggestion that Scott (Artificer) just did. I'm sure Donnie (Wyvern) could fix you up as well (or any custom sporran maker.)

If you have a close look at my avatar you will see a pair of tan brogues matched up with an Artificer "brass cantle" sporran. I like it for day wear, particularly when matched with a tweed jacket. I bought my brogues to match my sporran. To complete the outfit consider a kilt belt died in the same tan leather.

    Cheers....

In all honesty, the sporran is not really day attire and I have no idea what "semi-formal" means. Again, the choice is entirely yours to make.
    Jock is right, as usual!

I have a pair of the same shoes (from the same stable!) but in black which are of the excellent quality that is always found in Loakes' products.

Something like this for day wear

Both examples are from Kinloch Anderson, however there are other outlets such as McRostie of Glasgow http://www.mcrostie.co.uk/ that would also be wonderful to go to.
Sorry Glen, but if I'm spending that much money on a sporran, then it's going in Artificer's (Scott's) bank account!

To each their own, I would also love a sporran from Artificer, the reason I put up those 2 links is because the OP is from Scotland and I thought that supporting a local business might be important.
