Sporran to go with Brown (Braemar tan) Brogues

Hi all,

Id like your suggestions on a sporran (preferably daywear/semi-formal) to match my Brogues which are coloured "Braemar Tan" here is what they look like

I had initially thought this as it has antique silver and doesnt look too formal, but not sure if it is too formal for day wear

Just for your info, I wont wear a Fox or muskrat sporran.

The shoes are from the right stable! Personally I would go with black as first choice, dark brown as second choice and the one in the picture as third choice. But it is not for me to choose.

In all honesty, the sporran is not really day attire and I have no idea what "semi-formal" means. Again, the choice is entirely yours to make.

We have the exact same shoes, in fact. Strangely enough, I have never worn them with highland dress. However, perhaps this sporran would fit. It is along the lines of the one from buyakilt, but more daywear.

The colouring seems to vary as, as far as I can tell, this seems to be the same sporran offered by Kinloch Anderson. As you can see, it is a little darker.

They are probably both made by William Scott. It is listed as tan, so they at least believe it to match other tan-coloured items.

I would caution to be wary of Semi-Formal anything, getting a good quality day wear sporran and a good quality dress sporran woud be the best best especially since we are talking about pairing them with Loake`s.

The kinloch Anderson day sporran that is shown in the link in your post Glen, is a Mcrostie. It would save some £70 if you bought the same sporran direct from Mcrostie. Mcrostie leather wear are second to none and I can personaly(I have no connection to them) recommend the sporrans, sporran straps and kilt(dirk) belt. Just saying.

I have a pair of brown shoes that I reserve for daywear. I typically wear a brown leather sporran that I got a few years ago from the Scottish Tartans Museum.

Thanks Jock, if I were in the market for a new sporran thats the one I would choose. As it stands my day sporran from A&J Scott and co from 1950 is still going strong. I still stand behind the idea of getting the best you can.

In over 40 years of kilt wearing and gathering a lot of "stuff" I find what I actually wear getting simpler and simpler. I have a very nice MOD brown leather sporran with strap I wear 90% of the time and the 10% of the time I am getting really dressed up I wear a L&M Highland silver cantelled hunting style sporran. I wear black shoes with both.

Just for your info, I wont wear a Fox or muskrat sporran.

This one I made isn't an EXACT match, but I could certainly dye leather to match your Loakes.
