why the large pleat under the over-apron?

I make reverse Kingussie kilts - which are mirror imaged each side and an inverted box pleat at the back. I put large pleats under both apron and under apron as it gives me enough fabric to climb over gates and to cycle - without the pleats the aprons would pull apart when sitting or climbing.

Thanks Anne, I left myself a little short on the fabric to make two pleats.. but will definitely have the one, and hope it's enough for my guy to move comfortably in. cheers, dale j.
