On my way to Kilt Kamp. Drove 753 miles today from Kansas to Rawlins, Wyoming. Enjoyed the long ride across the High Plains. You can see forever out there. One thing that has always fascinated me about the region is that you can see storms coming for hours in advance. Not long after I crossed the Kansas/Colorado line on I-70 I could see dark clouds way out west, storms coming over the mountains. They were moving west to east, and I was driving east to west about 80 mph. It was probably an hour and a half before I hit rain. Saw a tornado at Denver. Went north to Fort Collins, then NW to Laramie, Wyoming. The route was beautiful. I love driving in the West. Folks don't pay much attention to speed limits. Posted was 65mph, but I was doing 90 to keep up with the flow off traffic.

Due to a lucky stroke my itinerary has changed and I will now arrive mid-morning. Not sure why Air Canada cancelled the Halifax to Winnipeg route where I was scheduled to connect to Vancouver, but it all worked in my favour when I called to complain about the addition of an extra connection (Halifax to Toronto to Winnipeg) that I got rebooked to connect via Montreal to Vancouver instead.
I have emailed and texted Benning Boy as we were to meet up in time for the 6pm ferry. Hopefully he'll read one or the other and we can make amendments or keep to original plan.

Dixicat, please let us know if you don't meet up with Benning Boy and need a ride from the bus station in Victoria.

Plaid Preacher.....I am out of town and don't have access to my spreadsheet. Are you the "WestJet dude" arriving around 5:35 pm? If so, yes we are picking you up at the airport. If not, which one are you?

Think things are covered with Dixiecat. Drove exactly 700, more miles today, 1453 total, to Baker City, Oregon. I'm enjoying driving roads I've never taken, and seeing sights I've never seen. Started out in rugged, barren desert country, and passed through towering mountains and wide open spaces. Today I've truly seen spacious skies, purple mountains, and amber waves of grain. I've experienced chilly temperature and scorched in the heat. There was torrential rain, and walls of dust blown by winds so hard birds were tossed about like scraps of paper. The West has been suffering drought for the past few years. You can see it everywhere in the dead dry grass. But, surprisingly some of the more significant rivers are flowing full. I have no idea where the water is coming from. Just behind my room tonight a stream is flowing briskly, yet just up the road I could see where wildfire burned extensively. The only thing gone wrong is somehow I forgot my meds when leaving Wyoming this morning. I hope I can find a VA facility that will give me refills, else things get weird.
By the way, traffic in the Ogden, Utah vicinity is really bad, but it's pure hell at Boise, Idaho. If you should happen that way, be prepared.

I think I'm on schedule to arrive in Victoria on Friday. Drove from Anchorage to Whitehorse (700 miles) yesterday and Whitehorse to Ft Nelson (590 miles) today. Hopefully I can make to to Prince George tomorrow. Sorry, no pictures...too busy driving.

Are you taking the Fraser Canyon route after you leave Prince George? Hell's Gate at the Fraser Canyon is quite something to see!

I haven't decided which route. After the brutal drive today I'm ready for the easiest route possible. I'll see how I feel about after tomorrow's drive.
