I pinned it all to see how it looked and to check the math. I then unpinned it and am sewing it, albeit left-handed! Sydnie and I have agreed that I will send her pictures from my iPad and she will post them. Have one more pleat to sew and it's 1/4 sewn. I will then take measurements and make adjustments as needed. Keeping the Dearheart Persians off the dining room table is a chore; I've covered it with a sheet to do my best to keep the cat fur to a minimum. The lovelies believe that everything looks better with a fine dusting of Dearheart fur!

Keep a roll of duct or Tuck tape handy to take the fur off, Mary. Just make a loop, sticky side out around your hand and roll it over the Dearhart 'contributions'.

Gotta love those felines, they are so into whatever your are doing.

Looks wonderful Mary! I love the crisp white stripe on the pleat.
I can't wait to see the finished project!

    Mary reports:
Well well well...here we are 3/4 of the pleats sewn. I feel confident that pressing will remove those wobbly bits. It's coming right along. Just 8 more pleats and I get to turn the page in The Art of Kiltmaking. Must say, I am looking forward to that! Getting tired of a seemingly endless progression of pleats.
Light is gone, time to cover it up and read ahead in the book. That sounds fun!
So Endeth Day 3, or is it Day 4? Endless progression, indeed!

    As of this afternoon:

    Finished With Pleats!

And the measurements were spot on, thank the Good Lord. Whew. Turn page in The Art of Kiltmaking and proceed. Really want to have this finished by The Scotsman's Ball the end of Feb. What's next? Oh, yeah. A million yards of basting, however could I have forgotten!

I replied to Mary that sewing the pleats is about 20% of the work. . . The rest you can't see, but boy howdy do you ever see it if it's NOT done!

I have cut away excess, sewn in the cotton stabilizing strip, and sewn in the hair stabilizer. Am working on the apron and fringe now. Coming along!

Mary , that's outstanding ! Love the tartan as well as the pleating and it looks like you are making good progress . Your son will definitely have an heirloom kilt .

Sydnie , thanks for posting the pics ! It's always great to see a kilt in the making .

    Cheers , Mike
