Beginning First Kilt After Kilt Kamp

Taking a deep breath, having taken measurements three times, I am beginning a Patriot tartan kilt for my son. A phone call to my sister, Sydnie (you know her as Sydnie7), several emails with Barbara, and I am confiscating the dining room table for the duration. I would post pictures but I don't know how, and suspect that that might be beyond my ability! I will keep you posted on the progress. At present I have six wonky pleats pinned!

We're with you in spirit, Mary! Take the pictures anyway! Perhaps they will have the picture problem sorted by the time you get it finished. If not, you at least have the story of the kilt to give to your son. The kilt will probably be still be around for his grandchildren, it would be nice for the story to be there too.

Way to go Mary. I'm sure you'll do fine! I'm still working on last year's Kilt Kamp project. My goal is to wear it this summer; Good being gracious. Do take some photos along the way... we'd love to see.

Congratulations on taking on the daunting task of kiltmaking!

I notice you mention pinning the pleats. I took Elsie Stuehmeyer's class and we didn't pin, just sewed, it's the way Elsie does it. She makes it look easy but I had trouble getting the darn things even.

About posting photos, what I do is use Photobucket. It's free and easy to use. You upload photos from your computer into your 'bucket' and once there you just click on the bar to save the photo, and then on your post here just do ctrl + v and the photo magically will appear in your post.

Congratulations on taking the next step, Mary. And use those pins if they help -- even Barb uses pins!

After trying some options, Mary and Tom have agreed upon pleating to the white stripe.

Yes a very handsome tartan, and I really like the pleating to the white line there.
