Buying at Highland Games

Casual Kilt is a way to tip your toe in the pond, my first was a semi-traditional from USAkilts. I now have 3 casual, 1 semi-trad. and 3 five yard wool kilts all via USAkilts. My wife has a woman's kilt from USAkilts in the PV and a kilted skirt from Scotweb. We also purchased 11 oz wool fabric for an Arisaid.

To my surprise, when I started collecting vintage Highland Dress catalogues I found that the lower-yardage option was around in the 1930s.

I'll have to dig out the catalogues and find it to confirm, but as I recall one of the big kiltmakers offered men's kilts in either 6 or 8 yards.

To me the ideal kilt, for look and comfort and wear, is a kilt of heavyweight wool but made with 6 or so yards of tartan.

I ordered a 5-Yard Wool kilt from USA Kilts on the 27th of December the year before last and immediately got an email from Rocky saying that because the tartan mill was closed until the 7th of January there'd be a delay on my order. I received my order about the 25th of January (in Australia), which is lightning fast.
I can heartily recommend Rocky and the team for quality, speed, and service.

I have read so many good things about USA Kilts that is the reason Im going with them for mine. Soon...just need to get the money together.
