It's a relatively short port of call for us. We did book a 7-hour excursion that will be quite the tour of Halifax. So if our paths don't cross in Halifax, they may in St. John's on the 4th.

I'll be on the lookout for you at St John. We are going to stroll around town. At Halifax we have an excursion in the morning, then I'm going up to the Citadel in the afternoon.

The Split Crow pub, just across the alley from The Plaid Place, features live Cape Breton music in the evenings. Maxwell's Plum is another well-known pub where you can get great fish and chips and a good pint at reasonable prices. As someone else mentioned, Halifax has a number of excellent pubs and some very good restaurants. Try the Five Fishermen restaurant for seafood and take advantage of their superb mussel bar.

The Bicycle Thief. Closest to the Cruise Ship port on that end of the waterfront/boardwalk. Excellent restaurant; seafood and more - and very kilt friendly

There is a pub located in the Historic Properties along the waterfront named the "Lower Deck" that on Saturday afternoons has some very good music and laughs with local performers. The locals are a very friendly bunch and will often make space at at table for you and welcome you to sit down and join them. If you're wearing a kilt you'll be fine but prepare to be teased in good humour!

One might think there maybe an opportunity to score something unique kilt wise in Halifax, New Scottland but not very likely. The good hadmade goods are all in Cape Breton there is some very fine tailoring on the island.

I heard rumor of another kilted man roaming about Saint John; so I know Sir William has been about. I'll keep my eyes open for the kilted lad in Halifax ")
