    Best USAF "Uniform" of all!

Looking good! I am glad to see someone wearing that particular tartan, and wearing it well. The young 'uns keep us on our toes, don't they? Hopefully, you have planted the kilt seed in some young minds.

I used to be USAF and ANG. It would have been nice to be able to wear the kilt, instead of the "Bus Driver" suit or the "Messy Dress", which seldom lasted through more than two dining-in rugby matches - even when we played sans jacket (Ahh! The good ole days...). But, the USAF didn't go for the kilt thing right then. We (they) were trying to decide whether to look Navy, Business Executive, or, actually Military.
Luckily, I mostly wore Nomex, and didn't have to dress up much.

I wear my USAF (unofficial) semi-trad to some dressy events. The attached pics are poorly composed, from a dinner cruise in Portland a few months ago. The kilt pin, if you can see it, is a set of Master Navigator wings. That is the only piece of my USAF past I wear at all these days.

I will get better at pics, now that I know I can post them without exploding my computer.
Edit: I still have to figure out the sideways picture thing...
    Regards - Steve

Apologies KiltedCodeWarrior, when I started this your post was not there! I fixed the pictures, but then could not find them to upload due to a duplicated folder.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

    Apology...

... to jumary, for littering his most excellent original thread with technical incompetence on my part.

And "Thank You" to those who jumped in to help.

I WILL learn that photo stuff!

It is no problem at all, especially from a fellow Airman. Thanks for sharing your photos.

    Thanks everyone

Thanks for all your replies and photos. My next step is to get a tie that is not solid-colored. I have been scanning the boards and see quite a few mentions of regimental ties, but I also like the look of those with images such as fish or fowl.

I have learned from my reading (thanks Jock) that one should not be obsessed with all the colors matching. I am open to any suggestions.

    Perhaps something like this? http://www.argyllkilts.com/images/bv02711.jpg

I'm not a great tie wearer, but that looks promising, give it a try.
