The kilt pin does not actually hold the apron down in the wind. That's a myth. You have a second apron behind the first you should have no modesty problem.
Today it is bling. The equivalent of a lady wearing a brooch. That little glint of jewelry to the outfit.

Well why is it one year ago when I was watching a instructional video on how to wear a kilt, it says that "the pin, as well as being decorative, will keep the kilt from flapping and preserve your modesty."?
And I can tell you from personal experience that it does help to keep it down and keep it from flapping.

How can the top apron possibly flash anyone when the bottom apron opens the other direction? Try opening it some time when you're wearing it, or better, have your wife try.

My understanding is that it’s the weight of the pin that’s supposed to hold it down. However most pins wouldn’t really be heavy enough and it’s probably a retroactive justification for what’s really a piece of jewelry. There’s a tendency to attribute everything to some legend or other like dicing or bonnet colors.

The kilt pin is a bit of decorative 'man-bling'. Absolutely no reason not to wear one but it's not a requirement and serves no practical function in modern Highland Dress. I haven't work one in 40+ years and somehow have survived wihout incident.

As someone that comes from a VERY strict Roman Catholic family (I am the rebel) full of priests, monks and nuns - they are human first.
I do not trust a man that is "holier than thou" - and knowing that the Reverend here is not that, I as a Heathen would gladly confide in him and come to him in times of mental health, because I know I am not being judged.
Original topic, was out in high winds yesterday and no pin - it is just flash, though people got back shots.
