Oh I don't know Jeff, all I need to replace quite often, about every two years, are my kilt hose and Tattersall/country check shirts that are also used for my shooting and fishing exploits as well.

My two Clan tartans(Macleod of Harris) kilts do not need replacing, my kilt jackets will see me out, I don't need more than two kilt pins(one for each kilt), my 30 year old brogues will probably need re-soling again, my bonnet is fine for another decade or three and unless some miracle happens and I can find a dress sporran that I like, my 40+ year old do-it-all sporran will do nicely. Buy once and buy the best and divorce need from necessity are in my view the less expensive routes in the long run.

I must admit to having a quiet smile----in the nicest possible way--- at you chaps with your tartan collections in kilt form, umpteen bonnets, kilt pins, sporrans and so on. What, I wonder, does it all cost you?

    Jock,
As to the cost - My daughter's father-in-law once commented in my wife's hearing that my wearing kilts was due to a mid-life crisis. Michele said "Well that may be, but if so, it's a lot cheaper and less inconvenient than a little red sportscar and a mistress." I am married to a very wise woman.
