I found it quiet ironic some posters see the cap as more costumey than the bracers!!

Allan, I think you have read that backwards. Fossilhunter said it was the braces that make it costumey.

It wasn't fossilhunter's comment I was referring to...I was agreeing with him....

Sorry, Allan. I guess it was me who got it backwards.

Any hat indoors is just, well.....ungentlemanly! (as I keep reminding my baseball cap wearing teenager )

Thank you all for your excellent advice, I wear a ball cap almost 100% of the time partly due to the fact I work in a agricultural area and that is the norm here and also because I am a little follically challenged (read bald) and I am a little sensitive about it so that would be why I would even consider a flat cap. As to the arm braces with a nickname of styckbow it should be self evident however y'all are right as I will not be shooting my longbow or throwing axes that night it is probably best to leave the bracers at home. I have also decided to just wear my normal pride of Scotland Kilt in order to match everyone else as I will be playing the pipes in public for my first time and I don't really want to stand out

And what part of this is not obvious?
You will stand out just because you're playing the pipes.
It is the nature of the beast

Trying to get people to stop wearing caps indoors, many have pretty much given up. But vambraces unless your actually shooting a longbow is a bit beyond the pale. I have a feeling that someone is going to have a horn on their belt, and someone else will say Skrall.
