Thank you all for your excellent advice, I wear a ball cap almost 100% of the time partly due to the fact I work in a agricultural area and that is the norm here and also because I am a little follically challenged (read bald) and I am a little sensitive about it so that would be why I would even consider a flat cap. As to the arm braces with a nickname of styckbow it should be self evident however y'all are right as I will not be shooting my longbow or throwing axes that night it is probably best to leave the bracers at home. I have also decided to just wear my normal pride of Scotland Kilt in order to match everyone else as I will be playing the pipes in public for my first time and I don't really want to stand out

You will stand out just because you're playing the pipes.
