Thanks! So interesting when some of the battalions have uniforms that differ from the 1st and/or 2nd battalions.
By the way that photo of a Gordon Highlanders piper shows one of a large number of different sporran designs they wore over the years. It might well be a 1st battalion/2nd battalion thing like it was in the Seaforths.
You see Gordons pipers wearing the ordinary Other Ranks sporran, the one in that photo that's like the Other Ranks sporran but with a narrower rim, and a number of other designs. Ditto with their crossbelt hardware, it's changed a number of times over the years.
