    First off, that sounds like a great outfit! I've hiked in my utility kilts, but never a woolie - the 5-yard would be a good winter choice, I think.

    How was it hiking in hose? That's another thing I wonder about. I think I'd forego the hose, and just wear a pair of good wool hiking socks.

    Surprisingly comfortable. The wool hose from HoC are very well cushioned. Not a single blister or sore spot.

    I know it, ending up with have been walking twice or more of what my wife and I had planned, when starting out. And she having problems with a hip.

    Well, as far as possible we keep to paved paths. I almost always will wear a traditional kilt.
