in the process of laundry and packing now. I'll be taking a slightly longer route to stay on Interstates as much as possible, so about 760 mile in total. Planning for Wed & Mon to go to some of the scenic areas of NC that I haven't been near in over 30 years.
Have a room booked at Smoketree Lodge for a week.

As a kid learning the pipes, it was always a goal to compete at Grandfather Mountain, but the distance and the (so I've heard) cumbersome transport up the mountain by shuttle was something of a turn off. I imagine it must be somewhat efficient if people continue to make it. What's the experience of GM veterans' here with the shuttle service?

going to get a late lunch at the appropriately named "Highlanders Grill" before driving to the one shuttle stop for today. I'll be heading down an easier route the rest of the days.

had the chance to meet a few other members in the 3-dimensional world today. Despite the rain earlier it was a great day today.

Yes, a friend who competed there said it was almost non-stop rain this morning. Water down the drones, reeds shutting off. I felt worse for the vendors who probably took a big hit.

Are my eyes deceiving me? Is that a dandelion lurking on Mael's bonnet?
For those who might not know, in times past, some Xmarkers used to wear-----still do?------ an artificial dandelion in their bonnet at gatherings to help identify Xmarkers in a crowd? I found it very helpful on occasion.
