Hi Ranald ... Thanks for the kind mention ... I'm really pleased that my odd posts have been of some help to you. Yesterday was another first for me in that I wore my kilt around the local shops. Granted the wife was there as well but it was something I decided I would do after the day before and my confidence was high. Only three comments I had. From one shop the guy I know behind the counter said when I walked in 'I didn't know you were Scottish'. I explained I was Welsh and it was a Welsh Cilt etc .. he thought it was great. The other two shops said more or less the same thing .. 'I did'nt know you had a Kilt'. I gave them the same answers. Again they showed no indifference to me as to when I've be in my jeans. I was out sweeping the front earlier today when the post lady came along .. all she commented on at first were our dogs, who always bark at her .. and she teases them through the window .. then she said thats a fabulous kilt you have there, is it a welsh one. I told her it was etc. Again she thought it was great I was wearing it. Later today however I had some mucky jobs to do and had to put my jeans on. Half way through these jobs I needed to go to the shops again, so the same people I saw yesterday wearing my kilt also seen me today in my jeans. Next time they could well/ or will see me in my kilt again .. slowly slowly catchy monkey so to speak. Break 'em in gently.
My confidence Ranald has come from all the guys here on X Marks over a period of time giving so much encouragement to me plus my wife's support who see's nothing wrong with a guy wearing his kilt if he wants too. I can now say that I am 99.9999% confident and prepared to wear my Cilt anywhere at anytime.

Tubular is surfer slang from the late 60s and through the 70s. Its the "perfect wave" and is used for something so cool and unique that the object or person is the height of coolness.

Ranald ... forgot to mention two things. We ought to try and meet up sometime .. were only about 3 hours or so apart. Do you ever get across to this neck of the woods? (Chepstow, Newport.. Cardiff etc or even Bristol, Bath). If ever you do the wife and I know some great little country pubs (all kilt friendly of course). The second thing is that our old band manager lived in Sutton by the old gas works .. doubt if thats still there now. Just thought I mention that as you are right next to Sutton.

Yeah, "Tubular" refers to getting in the tube, or inside the curl of a wave. It's surfing slang, long, LONG gone out of fashion. The kid must've heard it from his mom or his dad.
