Welcome to the XMARKS forum from a kilted Virginian.

    Welcome aboard.

Even if you don't get to wear the kilt to work on a regular basis, there are occassions like National Tartan Day and the like. The company will have a hard time arguing against a National Proclamation.

    Kilts and Work

To answer a few questions and comments, yes, it is a Large corporation and I have a copy of the dress code. Yes, skirts for the ladies are ok but.... I won't say what company but it is a very large manufacturer of IT equipment from Pocket PCs to the servers that Yahoo uses and mass quantities of storage equipment. New CEO and a wHole Passel of management and personell changes this year. Just laid off about 40% of the inside sales force here in Colorado Springs. ...so, I don't want to rock the boat any more than I have for the last few years. OK, Christmas party is another thing ;)

Welcome from another Virginian. I expect you'll like it here. Don't forget St. Andrew's Day is coming up. Another good excuse for a kilt at work. I'm trying to work out that one.

I'll be out of town on business travel that day and the dress code for that does not allow kilts or skirts. BUT, there is a Scotch tasting that night and I WILL have the kilt. Sometimes things just work out great.

How Pathetic that a company already losing it's best and brightest can't see it's way to honor the patience of those employees that remain by allowing equality in the dress code. My wife worked for a similar 'firm' here on the front range for a while. You know things are bad when they eliminate the coffee pots!

Best of luck to ye. Hope to see you at a kilt night some day!

Hey, I think I know the “firm” you are talking about. In fact, I think it’s the one I work for. Especially because you are from Highlands Ranch, which happens to be the location of one of our big buildings.

And Livingston, I can’t believe that a large company like the one you work would disallow a culturally traditional garment like a Kilt. I haven’t had the courage to wear on of mine to work yet (I’m working on it, I’m working on it), but when I do, I don’t even intend to ask if it’s OK.

    Anyway, keep Kiltin’.

My wife retired from that same "firm", after 2 spinoffs, 4 years ago. Before anyone moved into that new building with the large atrium up north. And that was just before the big merger for the company I worked for and this one.

I've worn it to work a couple times but just for Halloween. Hey, I just wanted to wear it! Now that I'm in a new management string, I just might be able to convince my bosses new boss. Won't start that till all of the moves around the building happen. Then watch out.
