Mike, you KNOW that I'm interested
thanks for sharing them.
I'm glad the day we were there was much more pleasant - weather wise, but it was not as colourful as this event.

Piping up for St Andrew's Day
A MULTI-CULTURAL mix of pipes and drums will celebrate Scotland's first-ever St Andrew's Day party in the Capital.
Evan Williams, from the Boghall and Bathgate Pipe Band, and Steven Singh, from the Tartan Dohlies, met up yesterday for the launch of the festival programme.
The event will take place on the evening of Wednesday, November 30 on the Royal Mile, supported by the Scottish Executive's One Scotland campaign.
An open-air concert will be staged at the Lawnmarket with other performers including Scottish singer songwriter Dougie MacLean and ceilidh band the Peatbog Faeries. Other artists will be announced over the coming weeks for the celebrations which will showcase a selection of music and dance from Scotland's diverse cultures.

Thanks much for the link: unfortunately, it seems Penderyn isn't being exported anywhere outside the UK. I guess I'll be looking for a bottle or two to bring home if Tracy and I make it across the pond this coming year.
Bryan...of course, I'll continue to pester my local supplier on a monthly basis...

There are still a small number of tickets available for those fortunate enough to be in Embra tomorrow. Also, the newly-formed Albannach band will be performing at the Cafe Royal, along with Fiery Jack.

Oh Mike, why do you torture me so!!
I wish I could be there...sadly, I'm too far away.
However....
Our own celebration is coming together, I have members of the local Pipe Band coming, plus friends including scottish country dancers..tables and chairs are hired, decorations of saltires etc..all to happen on our front garden, we've had renovations done (not especially, they needed doing, all the brown posts and timbers are now replaced, along with the windows)
We plan a BBQ, but I'm needing ideas,
Any suggestions on appropriate activity/format for the evening given that it will be fairly casual with people coming and going a bit.
Thanks all

Graham, about an hour before the march was due to muster, Embra was reporting temperatures of 41° F / 5° C and a light drizzle.
I've seen a couple of webcam pictures of the march and the poor weather apparently caused several people to stay home.
Sorry that the promotional poster caused you such torture. I promise I won't post any more of them.
Drat! Graham, that just slipped out, honest it did... ;)

Graham, my girl posted some pics from Embra on Shutterfly. Most of the pics are from the Albannach show, last night, but there are a couple from the march.
