I have yet to meet a group of people who do not pride themselves on drinking. Every culture has a history of drinking, and alcohol is a social item that has been firmly engrained in every national history.

Because you have not met them, it does not at all necessarily follow that they are not there. While drinking alcohol may occur to some degree in most cultures, in many there is a great deal of both social and legal opprobrium against it. In some Muslim countries it is illegal. In others it is illegal to drink openly. And in many Asian cultures not only is drinking not a matter of pride, it is thought to be a shameful thing, as it is in some quarters in both Scotland and Ireland
