Rob,
Just remember that Mr. Dremel is your best wood working friend. If you don't have one, you now have a suggestion for Mrs. KiltedCodeWarrior for a Christmas gift that doesn't revolve around kilts
Cheers

Wow, never even thought about that. A Dremel tool would fulfill so many wishes I have. I mean to begin with, it is just a plain cool tool to add the the arsenal. Then you add on all the stuff you can do with it, and WOW. Almost as good as a Roto-zip. And I mean this in all seriousness. I am a serious DIY'er, and every project must include the purchase of another tool for that specific project.

My personal take on the Dremel is that there are a myriad of specialized wood working tools that do a much better job than the Dremel tool at specific jobs.
BUT
If you don't have a barn sized workshop and can't have one of everything, the Dremel is an amazing jack of all trades.
I will never be an artist in wood like Rab Gordon, I am a tinkerer. But my dremel tool has allowed me to do stuff that is actually much better than my real skill level. Plus, as you noted, there are lots of really cool attachments for the Dremel.
Cheers
