    Yikes!

    Dude!

Good to hear you survived...sorry to hear about the pipes, though.

Buffing wheel accidents go sideways in a split second-seen a few of them happen similar to yours.

Good to hear you're quitting. I did Skoal for 20+ years and quit cold turkey. It was tough, but I did it. I noticed my concentration was off for a while, though. After a few weeks, my mind seemed like it was sharper than ever.

    Hang in there!

I kind of contribute what happened to this ( the whole concentration thing)

you see in the past when I buffed them out ...I took apart the bass section into two parts....that way the cord it WELL away from the buffing wheel ( we're talkin 10-12" to the SIDE so there is NO WAY for it to get caught)

THIS time ...I left them together thus putting the cord about 2"-3" away and since I had to move the cord each time I turned the part to get to a new spot to buff.....each time I pulled away was a chance to F-up which happened about 2 mins. before I was done........as stated in murphy's laws of pipe maintnence

section 2, sub paragraph 5, line 3 states

RIGHT before KFP is done cleaning his pipes and making them look shiney and new his pipes WILL be destroyed by some means that will render them "unplayable".
"unplayable" will be defined as one of the following:
A: reed breakage: the ONE reed he needs will break, and to replace it will take 75.00-300.00 or 3-6 weeks.....which ever will screw up his plans for playing more

B: pipebag failure which is unrepairable causeing the same effect and to replace it will take 75.00-300.00 or 3-6 weeks.....which ever will screw up his plans for playing more

C: total distruction of at least 3 major parts of the "stand of pipes" causing same effect and to replace it will take 75.00-300.00 or 3-6 weeks.....which ever will screw up his plans for playing more

so you see I was screwed from the get go :crap:
having a good laugh about it now ...not much else I can do but laugh really
