Turpin, hope we can do it again soon. Splash has some new kilts coming that will require local celebrations, and since there are so many of us around, we just need to get together.

And Grinder, if you can find a baby sitter, bring the missus and let her see what a charming lot of rabble we all are. Ha. The Tavern is a family type place, so ladies are quite safe there. Well, as safe as they can be amidst the rabble.

Well I wish we had one too but it's not in the cards. The in-laws said they could've babysitted if it were tonight but not tomorrow so NO GO!! he he It's all good, she figures I was gonna go by myself anyway. Thank you though, she did want to attend. She loves Robert Burns poetry.

    Arrow Rabbie Would Be Proud

At least, I hope Rabbie would be proud. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I can tell you that last night was a wonderful evening for me. And, I can swear that everyone there was of the best character you can imagine. I expected to have at least one knothead who would not be pleasant, but OH NO, these guys are great to hang out with.

As my dad would have said, "All wool and a yard wide."

This is what the gathered rabble (plus one would-be rabble) looked like after being stuffed w' haggis--reekin', risch--neeps, and tatties, and being plied with toasts.

Left-to-right: CavScout, cgrinder, nixphotographic, gilmore, thescot, David (my kilt-wearing friend/non-Xmarker), and SoutherScot.

Not bad, huh? You can dress these guys up and take 'em out.

Then, of course, in honor of our mutual, friend, hero, and mentor, our best Hamish:

Sorry I didn't get the kilts in the photo, but it was a bit crowded in the dining area and cold outside.

I cooked enough haggis for 20 people, and we just about ate it all. Holly also cooked shepherd's pie and corned beef with cabbage, but, except for Grinder who is young and can eat all day, no one ate it. Ha.

There were great sighs of relief once the haggis was tasted, and I have made new converts to the cause of hunting, skinning, cooking, and eating the little critters.

Next year, we do it bigger.

Thanks to all you guys who came. Let's do it again.

    More Pix from the Supper

I thought you might like to see some of the details from our evening.

The star of the show, the haggis, came in dressed for business. While it looks pretty OK right now, it was a mess when we got through with it.

Gilmore tries to figure out how to use a dirk without getting haggis on it.

    Cgrinder addresses the haggis.

David toasts the lassies in fine fashion.

Ms. CavScout responds to the toast. (She is even more charming in person than she is in writing here.)

Nixphotography reads his selection of Burns poetry.

    As does Gilmore.

Mr. and Mrs. CavScout laugh at The Scot's attempts at a Scottish brogue.

    SouthernScot awaits the haggis's arrival.

Just thought you'd want to see more.

    Slainte.

Yeah it was awesome guys! I appreciated everyone's company and maybe next time we can do it on my side of town (although I didn't mind the drive at all) I'd do it again and again for the fun and fine conversation we had. Oh yeah, and the good BEER!!!int: int:

ON my map, that area of town has the notation, "Beyond here, there be dragons!"
