McClef-
A couple of months ago I was inundated by emails from eBay asking about items I had for sale - I immediately logged on to my account and found that I had 44 listings of purses for sale. I emailed eBay Safe Harbor and alerted them to the problem and they promptly removed all of the listings and froze my account to investigate. They determined that my account had been hacked and that, although they would give me no details, the payment and PayPal info was different than mine, so the "seller" was using my account to list the items and had payment going to account controlled by him. At the end of the auctions he would have the money and I would have the negative feedback. I'm glad that the lister wasn't very clear in his listings and that I got so many emails asking questions, else I may not have know till it was too late.
It wouldn't surprise me if something similar happened to the account holder that had the listing that was removed. Sorry you didn't get you brogues, but it may have been for the best.
