Hope you get the licence plate Bradley and hope you get the ghillie brogues McClef. Fleabay seem to be trying to clean up their act at the moment. There was a Spitfire (warplane) instrument replica for sale recently on e-bay by a highly reputable seller. It wasn't made entirely clear to a novice that the item was a replica, but would have been obvious to a serious collector from the description. An employee of the seller bid on the item without the seller's knowledge, against a third party bidder. Because of the shill bid from the employee the item fetched a better price. When the seller discovered what had happened he disciplined his employee and offered the buyer a full refund. Despite this e-bay suspended the seller's account for two weeks. I have had good dealings with this seller in the past and have no doubt he acted in good faith, but nonetheless, e-bay policies on shill bidding and replica goods were breached and he has paid the penalty.

    McClef-
A couple of months ago I was inundated by emails from eBay asking about items I had for sale - I immediately logged on to my account and found that I had 44 listings of purses for sale. I emailed eBay Safe Harbor and alerted them to the problem and they promptly removed all of the listings and froze my account to investigate. They determined that my account had been hacked and that, although they would give me no details, the payment and PayPal info was different than mine, so the "seller" was using my account to list the items and had payment going to account controlled by him. At the end of the auctions he would have the money and I would have the negative feedback. I'm glad that the lister wasn't very clear in his listings and that I got so many emails asking questions, else I may not have know till it was too late.

It wouldn't surprise me if something similar happened to the account holder that had the listing that was removed. Sorry you didn't get you brogues, but it may have been for the best.

I put a bid in last year about a week before a big ice storm hit the area. I was without power for a week and no cable for well over two weeks. By the time I was able to log into my Ebay, I had a nasty gram from the seller for non payment on the item. (An Item I didn't even know I won)

I made several email attempts to straighten the mess out. The item was already listed again and bids made that were more than my original winning bid. But the bad mark stayed. I'm anal about that. Haven't used Ebay much since.

Well, just this morning, ebay had to shut down my account because someone had accessed it offering gold bullion and Super Bowl tickets for sale!

This has happened since my last post, so it's brand new.

For all of the trouble it can cause, I am glad to know that some of their securityy works very well. I dont' work for them, but I appreciate their efforts. (I'd also like to get a few minutes alone with the culprits.)

    Bradley,
I did the exact same thing when using paypal to order a xmarks kilt pin from KCW. I was lucky enough to be fairly close to my old address that I decided to drop a note in the new tenants mail box that said to call me if they saw any packages marked to me.
Turns out they had already sent it back to KCW *phew*

long story short, I got the kilt pin eventually.

Can you do something similar, and politely ask the new tenants to be on the look out for you??

    good luck,

    Cloves

Regarding the shoes, the listing was likely pulled because it said all sizes. You can't sell something on eBay where the buyer has to choose a size- you need to list a specific size for the buyer to bid on. It's actually better for the seller, you don't have to chase down size details when a buyer forgets to specify a size.

As a seller, FeeBay becomes an increasingly less-attractive venue every year.

It did say all sizes and if I remember rightly listed the number of items available but in my experience this is common practice and I wouldn't bid if there was no indication of the size I wanted being available.

But they have pulled all the sellers items, including those for which size wasn't an issue. It may be that they had been hacked as happened to Barclay, but the paypal payment did go to the supplier and the feedback had been done.

Speaking of eBay, you folks may be interested to read about the powerful and wide-spread problem of shill bidding:

As an update the supplier's online shop is up and running again, including the ghillie brogues!

I guess they and Ebay must have resolved whatever issue it was.
