You might check out a good quality acrylic or acrylic blend. I had a pair hand knitted in acrylic, and they're really the stuff. The above referenced studies showed that acrylic wicked moisture away from the body better, and it'll hold it's shape better, too.
For the most part, 100% acrylic hoe seem to be in white or off-white only, but you can find lots of blends in colors.
