I also found another one, that has similar connections:
It's the Polaris tartan, named after a class of US Navy subs. It seems more or less the Black Watch (looks sort of like ancient colour values), with a heavy royal blue/purple (I am viewing on a computer monitor here) stripe that is bordered with yellow. Pretty sharp. This was created at some point (from what I read) for US military personel that were stationed at Holy Loch submarine base, which is where my father was stationed, which comes back to why we lived in Dunoon. I just think it would be an interesting throwback, since just about anyone who knows what it is will likely have been in the region too, and those are the circumstances to how I happened to be born, where I was born, and when. So it's a neat way (and an excuse) for me to show some respect.

I am leaning more towards the Polaris tartan, than the Dunoon tartan, as I wouldn't mind throwing down for the Dunoon, if I could verify whether it was recognized by the town or not...but unless I can, it's gonna be the Polaris.
