A Major Advantage of Kilts Over Pants

The title of Shawnesse's post on the Kilt Advise forum, "Left or Right," triggered an old memory. I thought the post was going to be about when a man orders a new suit, or expensive slacks, and the tailor asks him which side he "dresses" on.

With kilts, we are never asked that question and don't have to make a decision, because we "dress" in the middle.

We're not stuck with the choice we make. How we "dress" in a kilt can be left, middle, right, as needed during the day. Let the boys decide as the situations present. No pain, no discomfort.

We call it freedom.

Freedom of choice is nice - that's why I wear kilts.

By wearing kilts I get freedom FROM choice too.

Not one of my kiltmakers has ever asked me which side I "dress" on.

NO NEED!

Ain't it great?!

And comfortable at all times.....

so....uhm...being uneducated in such matters....and without being crude....does it make a difference? Er...what I mean is....does a tailor actually take that into account somehow when he constructs a pair of pants? If they do......then what do you do when you buy jeans or pants ready made? Squish everything to one side???

That is about it in my experience, I cant tell you how uncomfortable it can become, thankfully, now I can wear a kilt instead, and not only be more comfortable but look better as well.

As near as I can tell that's not taken into account other than sometimes having a "tall" size which means there is an allowance for the tall frame.
Most pants are sized by waist and inseam and that's it.

Actually, for a high-end tailor-made (from scratch) suit, yes, the tailor takes the "dress" into account.

For an off-the-rack suit that will be altered (or an off-the-rack pair of p@nts or je@ns), then one is stuck with making sure they are comfortable to wear before walking out the door with them - the cut and design of the basic garment is going to be key (as is getting the proper size by trying it on, not just by grabbing the "34X32 I always wear").
