    Here is the original Australian tartan Todd is referring to:

    I like this one better, honestly. It could be because it was modelled after the MacQuarrie tartan (many historic ties between the MacQuarrie clan and Australia), and both because of the very unusual and beautiful colors.

    I can understand why some might want a more brightly colored tartan to wear, but I really like the sandy tones of the original Australia tartan.

    Matt, I know this tartan well. I was with the Pres. of the Australian Scottish Assoc. at a fair where he was promoting the tartan. This gentleman does not approve of the new one.
    Frankly, I don't like it and wouldn't wear it. In reality it appears much lighter than the image, just doesn't appeal based only on colour, not history.

    The new one has been endorsed by the Federal Government.
    I'll post some piccies after I get my hands on it in a few days.

    I feel a new kilt coming on!
