R Kilts Review
Well guys... it arrived only 5 days after it was sent. My new Bronze Leather R Kilt is here!
While I haven't been able to get any pics of it yet (I'm leaving right now to go to a party for my dad's 60th birthday), here are the pics Robert posted:

First, let me say AGAIN that I was a P.I.T.A. Customer. As I have fully admitted, Robert is a saint for having to deal with me. Think of it this way... if you were a Chef and were eating out at a restaurant, you'd be critical of the food, correct?
I had Robert jumping through hoops with lots of requests... leave things off and add others on... pleats a certain size and front apron a certain size... buckles bronze to match the snaps and rivits... leather straps to match the color of the kilt...
He accomodated all of my requests except a few, which he explained WHY he couldn't accomodate and I understood. There were no "surprises" when I got the kilt. That's a very good thing.
The fit is spot on. Almost like it was made for me! HAHAHAA
The pockets are placed very nicely on the exact SIDE of the kilt, not too far back (on my butt) or toward the front. If you drop your hands to your side, they are right there. The pockets also have an "internal" pocket (as well as 2 "external" pockets and 1 "big regular" one) like Raphael had on his. Good way to keep things separate in there.
The hardwear is VERy nice... I REALLY like the brass snaps and rivits and buckles... I know I was a pain about it, but I will say that it is DEFINITELY the "finishing touch" I was looking for. I compare it to a really nice kitchen with "average" doorknobs and hinges against a nice kitchen with REALLY NICE looking hardware... just gives it that finishing touch.
I will say that I'm jealous of 1 thing... Robert doesn't have to hem all his edges or surge them b/c leather doesn't fray!
Overall... very well done. I would definitely feel comfortable sending customers to Robert for a custom made leather kilt and can personally verify his high level of customer service and quality.
Kelly snapped a few pics of me in it today at the shop:

Canadians are the best!
Rocky, I agree with Roberts customer service...I just ordered a black leather kilt and was impressed with how easily it was to communicate with him, not to mention the kilt---to---customer time frame.
Cheers

That's really encouraging Rocky, thanks for the review, when it comes to leather (or hemp) Robert is hard to beat!
I am very envious!

Yesterday I drove for three hours to stop at USAKilts. I have an order in for a semi-traditional US Army kilt. Since this is my first made to measure kilt I wanted the kilt maker to do the measurements. I walk into the shop and no one is there. I look around and notice a glow coming from behind the counter. Its the light reflecting off of Kelly blond tresses. Kelly say hi and I look around and see no Rocky. There were a few thing I want to pick up so I wander around the shop. I will admit that thanks to the US Army Artillery (I was a gunner) I don't hear well but I though I was hearing strange sound from the back of the shop. A low moaning of extreme pleasure, the sound of the deep intake of breath, and a soft swishing sound. I'm confused.
Finally, Rocky appears from the back with a glow in his eyes and a smile on his face. There was no way I was going to ask any questions. As we talk about kilts Rocky asks if I'm a X-Marker, to which I say yes. Rocky then asks if I have been following the kilts exchange between USAKilts and R-Kilts. He then said that the postal person had delivered his leather R-Kilt minutes before I walked in the door.
The strange sounds were the end of the Jones.
Rocky brought out the kilt. The pictures don't do it justice. The leather was as smooth as a baby's behind and as soft a three year olds butterfly kisses. The workmanship was outstanding. There were only two problems. Rocky is half the man I am and it wouldn't fit me and for some reason Rocky always seem to be standing between me and the door.
Robert, great work and Rocky will wear it well.
