Hmmm... thinking about it. If the "losing" of gray stripes in the tapers was done with exactness, there could be a very interesting pattern of upward-pointing arrows.
OK, I've thought about this for five minutes and you have a more vibrant imagination than I do! Maybe if I had the fabric in my hand....hmmm.
You're right about the tapering taking place in the panel with the white stripe, though. I'd sure do it that way.
