Color Hose with Army Tartan
In late may if all goes well, i will be the proud owner of a U.S Army tartan kilt from USA Kilts. I will be attending a "Dinning In Ceremony" is a very fun event.
I have been slowly putting my ensemble together. DIY sporran etc.
So what color hose do you think will go best with the Army Tartan?
I will be wearing a Tuxedo white Shirt, bow tie, and Black spencer jacket with new pewter celtic buttons. I bought a set of green hose fron USA not sure what shade Green they will be.
I guess the choices are Black, Green, or off white, Any help would be great.
Here is the Army Tartan

Go with lovat green and red garter/flashes.
For a view of how it will look, find a picture of some Gordon Highlanders since their tartan is similar.

I'd suggest those Bridgedale Blaxnit soccer socks in the dark olive from Sierra Trading Post...but I just checked and they don't seem to have any on hand...that's the trouble with Sierra: it's pretty hit and miss.

Were you in the Army? Could you coordinate the hose so the flashes could represent the branch of the service? I like the use of the red flashes but then I was a cannon cocker.

I think you'll find some good pics over on the USA Kilts thread with the Army tartan. I liked one of the Lewis kilt hose greens (lovat?) and got some. Look good.
Also have some pics in my gallaries (Page 4 for British) but not sure what color hose I had for the pics.
Bottom line, some green to match the tartan in the kilt....

Boy Scout stockings would match

That is a very nice look. If you get in a rush, try a BSA (Boy Scouts) supplier for green stockings and red flashes! Unless they've changed the colors in recent years...
I think I still have a couple of pairs; but they are not as thick and luxurious as the wool socks I now crave.
